The Unicef UK Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the UN Convention on the Right of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of a school’s practice to improve well-being and help all children realise their potential. The award is based on principles of equality, dignity, respect, non-discrimination and participation.
At Holmbush Primary academy we are very proud to have achieved our Level 1 UNICEF Rights Respecting School Award. As a Rights Respecting School, children’s rights are learned, taught, practised, respected, protected and promoted. We seek to embed the UNCRC into our curriculum as widely as possible through by making links to the articles in our various learning journeys, discussion topics during Talk Project sessions and through our PSHE learning. We are committed to continuing to develop as a Rights Respecting School and are working towards achieving the Level 2 award over the next two years.
