Nursery
We look forward to welcoming your child to Little Learners nursery.
We are an inclusive nursery running out of Holmbush Primary Academy, Hawkins Crescent in Shoreham-By-Sea. We offer morning, afternoon and all day sessions during term time where we welcome children from 2 years. Our highly qualified members of staff provide a mix of child initiated and adult directed activities following your child’s interests.
Our nursery is bright and spacious. We have free flow access to a large, fully enclosed garden area with climbing equipment and a range of varied outdoor activities including a mud kitchen and huge sandpit. We provide a fun and stimulating learning environment both indoor and outdoor encompassing all seven areas of learning and development.
The nursery is based within the early years area of the school and can cater for a maximum of 16 children per session. A small class enables the children to form close, strong relationships with both staff and children. The nursery has a fantastic outdoor area including wooden play equipment and a mud kitchen.
Before your child starts we offer a home visit which provides a wonderful opportunity to meet your child in their home and enables us to familiarise ourselves with the child and family. It also provides an opportunity to discuss your child's needs, interests, dislikes and any allergies or medical information.
At this time settling in sessions are agreed and tailored to each individual child. We take photos of your child for their coat peg and family photos for the family board so when your child starts they already have a sense of belonging. Parents and families are made to feel welcome and valued within the setting, recognising that a child's first educator is their parent or carer.
As the nursery is attached to Holmbush Primary Academy we are able to utilise their facilities such as the library, woodland area, beach and school hall for activities. In addition to their amazing resources there are opportunities within the school to participate in sports days, Christmas performances and charity events.
Each child has a journal and an achievement book where their progress is recorded and all the beautiful artwork can be added to celebrate their time at Little Learners.

| 8.50am | Once all the children have arrived the outdoor area is opened up and the children can choose to play indoors or outside |
| 11am | Tidy up time. All the children sing the ‘tidy up’ song and help pack away the toys |
| 11.05am | Group time. A fun activity followed by a story |
| 11.30am | Lunch for some children but home time for those on a morning session |
| 12.30pm | More children arrive for the afternoon session |
| 12.35pm | Fun in the Reception classroom using the interactive whiteboard. Using the room helps to ease the transition when the children move onto school |
| 2.55pm | Tidy up time. All the children sing the ‘tidy up’ song and help pack away the toys |
| 3pm | Group time. A fun activity followed by a story |
| 3.30pm | Home time |
